Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur Introduces “Centric Bazaar”

At Centric Bazaar, dining is more than a buffet—it’s a journey. Led by Chef Afiq Ghani and his team, each stall showcases authentic Malaysian flavours with live cooking and personal chef interactions. With limited seating and an intimate setting, every evening feels thoughtful, engaging, and truly special.

KUALA LUMPUR (January 23, 2025) –– Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur introduces Centric Bazaar, a signature buffet experience that reimagines the lively spirit of a local bazaar within a modern, comfortable hotel setting.

Designed as more than a traditional buffet, Centric Bazaar transforms dining into an immersive journey of movement, choice, and discovery. Guests are invited to explore a series of chef-led stalls, live cooking stations, and thoughtfully curated dishes—echoing the excitement of strolling through a bustling bazaar, while enjoying the comfort and ease of an air-conditioned, contemporary space.

Rooted in local inspiration and elevated through Hyatt Centric’s design-forward lens, Centric Bazaar celebrates the joy of sharing, togetherness, and exploration—bringing people together through food, stories, and interactive moments.

A Chef-Led Experience

The buffet spread at Centric Bazaar is helmed by Chef Afiq Ghani, fondly known as “Mumu”, Chef de Cuisine at Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur. With over 15 years of culinary experience, Chef Afiq brings deep expertise in large-scale buffet operations, local flavours, and international cuisines to the concept.

With a hands-on approach and a strong connection to local flavours, Chef Afiq brings together his culinary team to present a buffet experience that is dynamic, engaging, and rooted in authenticity.

“This is a very hands-on experience for our team. Each stall is led by a chef who introduces the dish, explains the flavours, and connects directly with our guests. It’s not just about serving food—it’s about sharing stories and creating moments.” said by Chef Afiq.

An Intimate Setting for Meaningful Gatherings

Hosted in SunRoom, Centric Bazaar is designed as an intimate dining experience, making it ideal for corporate entertaining, private festive gatherings, and group celebrations.

To preserve comfort and quality, Centric Bazaar welcomes a maximum of 120 guests per evening. For group bookings of 50 guests and above, either one of the SunRooms can be fully privatised, offering an exclusive and personalised setting for private or corporate celebrations. This ensures a relaxed atmosphere where guests can move freely between stalls, engage with the chefs, and enjoy the experience at an unhurried pace.

This limited seating allows each night to feel exclusive and refined—perfect for those seeking a more personal way to celebrate together.

Centric Bazaar – Signature Food Highlights

Centric Bazaar brings together a collection of chef-led signature stalls, each centred on a dish deeply rooted in Malaysian food culture. These are familiar favourites chosen for their cultural relevance and everyday popularity, prepared with care and presented through a live, interactive format. The experience opens with Aiman’s live teh tarik, Malaysia’s most iconic everyday drink, setting the tone for a buffet designed around movement, sharing, and discovery.

Highlights include Chef Kie’s Curry Laksa, known for its rich coconut-based broth and layered spices; Chef Cha’s Rendang, a festive classic slow-cooked for depth and tenderness and traditionally enjoyed with lemang, nasi impit, or serunding; and Chef Diat’s Nasi Lamb Bokhary, a fragrant rice dish paired with roasted lamb, created exclusively for the first Centric Bazaar. These richer offerings are balanced by lighter and nostalgic dishes such as Chef Zahir’s Kerabu Sotong, a refreshing Malay salad, and Chef Ain’s Ice Kacang, a classic dessert presented with guided combinations that highlight texture and balance.
